But she should be, considering the beer I sell for her.

Welcome to Bike and Hike Japan, the place to arrange a bike tour of Japan.

You probably wonder who we are.
The owner and main guide at Japan Bike and Hike is Joe Reinhart, originally from Alaska.
I started this company several years ago, so I would have an iron-clad excuse to ride!

I used to be an achitect and designer, but this is lots more fun. I have no plans to stop.

The local Japanese, ryokan owners, temple monks and farmers are the people who make this tour special. I only take you there, but you have the adventure.

Our Mission?

To seek out brave new worlds! To boldly go where...
Woops. That was some other trekking company, wasn't it?

I believe everyone deserves their dream vacation. If none of our packages look right for you, maybe I can help you create something that does.
I do "adventure tours," and that means different things to different people. I will do everything humanly possible, and even some super-human things, to ensure you have a safe, satisfying vacation.

Be it riding bikes, walking trails or relaxing in the green semi-jungle comfort of Japanese hospitality, it is a brave new old world.

Our History?

Japan Bike and Hike has been taking clients on exciting adventures since 2004. I am proud to say most guests recover fully afterwards, and I haven't lost one . Yet! Sign up to be the first to Get Lost in Japan!

I understand the geography, history and gossipy details of the area and share it. It's the details that make my tour the best, not my fat price-tag.
Ooops! I don't have a fat price-tag! Well, too late for that, now!
I know the roads and accommodations of Kyushu and have plenty of flexibility in itinerary, season, group size and location for your tour.
You will find
pricing for standard tours here, and also sample itineraries.

And for those who wonder, custom tours have very similar prices to standard tours. I don't nail you for asking for special routes. In fact, they are sometimes cheaper.

While many tour providers promise "romance," "Hidden Japan," or "Lost Mysterious Glimpse into a Shrouded and Exotic Past," I don't.
Japan is what it is, and I hope you will enjoy the real thing.

What you make of it, romantic, exotic or just too darn Japanese, is up to you. I give a solid quality tour in Japan. No whistles and only temple bells. The fact is, you will be surrounded by Japan 24/7 and soon, spaghetti starts to look pretty good!
My product doesn't need puffing. It's 100% Japan.
How I became a guide in Japan?

I just followed the signs.
